Facilities Hospital Laboratory The on-site laboratory enables us to look at many blood, urine, hair and skin samples the same day. This enables us to make quicker diagnoses and treat your pets as soon as possible. Some samples still need to be sent to external specialist laboratories but most results take less than a week the come back.
Hospitalisation and Intensive Care Facilities We have excellent care facilities for our patients, whether they are in with us for a minor procedure and going home the same day, or they require intensive care. We have an oxygen cage, incubator, monitoring equipment, infusion pumps, syringe drivers and most importantly a dedicated, caring nursing team who are present 24-hours a day.
Dental Treatment We have a top of the range dental machine with a high speed drill, polisher and ultrasonic scaling similar to your own dentist. Radiographs are taken as required and dental treatment is carried out under general anaesthetic.
Radiography The hospital has an up to date digital radiography system. We are able to take radiographs (X-rays) of all pets from very small to very large and then view radiographs on the computer screens anywhere in the hospital and show these to our clients. The digital system also allows us to send radiographs electronically for specialist opinions.
Ultrasound and ECG (electrocardiograph) The hospital has a high quality ultrasound scanner and ECG facilities. Ultrasound is totally non-invasive and allows us to make many diagnoses we would otherwise be unable to. We can use ultrasound to look at the movement of the heart and flow of blood in conscious animals. ECGs show us the electrical activity in the heart and also information regarding heartbeat rhythm. We have vets with a particular interest in cardiology and these facilities allow us to investigate cases to a high level. The ultrasound machine is also configured for use within the abdomen so we can use this to investigate problems affecting the liver, kidneys, spleen, gut etc, and even for some joint and muscle problems.
Endoscopy and Laparoscopy These minimally invasive procedures allow us to examine many of the body organs and cavities. We are able to examine joints, internal organs and the respiratory and gastrointestinal systems without the need for large surgical approaches. The 'key hole' approach gives lower morbidity (ie less pain and faster recovery) than traditional surgery. Many conditions can be treated surgically using these techniques. Several of our vets have a keen interest and a growing experience with these techniques. Currently we are able to offer ovariohysterectomy (spaying) using key hole surgery in bitches and retained testicle removal in dogs. We also perform other diagnostic and surgical procedures using these techniques.
Surgical Facilities The hospital has several different operating areas. The theatres have the latest monitoring and surgical equipment, while minor procedures or dental treatments may be carried out in our ward areas. Our aim is to provide the very best facilities and care for your pets.
