Once ID chipped pets details are kept on a central database so that Vets, rescue centres, and dog wardens can access the details within minutes to re-unite the lost pet with their owner.

If your pet is not chipped please speak to our friendly receptionists who can book you an appointment with one of our nurses for this very quick and simple procedure.

Back in April 2010 we received a phone call at Wood Street about a cat sitting outside an office building on the Great North Road.  He had been there all day and the people in the building were worried that he may be injured.

We went out in our ambulance, picked him up and brought him back to the hospital for a thorough check over.  Thankfully he only had a small wound on his leg which we treated.
Once we had established the cat was otherwise in good health we scanned him for a microchip. We found a chip, read the number and phoned Petlog.  We found out that he was called Max and lived nearby so we called his owner straight away using the details we had been given from the database.

His owner was delighted to hear that he was safe and sound and came to get him immediately.  Max had decided to temporarily leave home as his owner had some house guests and he felt a little bit put out by it all.

If Max had not had the Identichip there may not have been such a happy ending. Max’s owner said “Would it be possible for me to pass on our very grateful thanks to the kind and responsible person who took Max to you and also many thanks to your team for all your help.”
