Wood Street Veterinary Hospital held an open day on the 5th September 2010 to showcase the newly refurbished hospital and to raise money for the RSPCA – Friends of Southridge.  The hospital is a Grade II listed 19th Century Stucco villa which has undergone major refurbishment over the past 18 months.

It now boasts three modern theatres, three modern consultation rooms, an ultrasound suite, dental suite, digital x-rays and digital dental x-rays, separate dog and cat wards, large comfortable walk in kennels for our larger patients, dedicated wash kennels and a laboratory.

The weather was kind with the sun making an appearance for most of the day. The Worshipful The Mayor of the London Borough of Barnet opened the day and then was the first to receive a guided tour by the Hospital Partners Tony White and Philip Barr.   A steady stream of over 300 visitors followed to have a guided tour of the hospital and to see the range of facilities and services that Wood Street has to offer.

Oakland college was a popular attraction with both children and adults alike with the opportunity to handle a tarantula, bearded dragon, snake , gecko and tortoises.  Other popular stalls were guess the staff member from baby photos, guess the celebrity pet, tombola, raffle and guess the weight of Leo who is a rather large Neapolitan Mastiff.
Now that all the money raised has been collected the event raised an impressive £605.92 for the charity RSPCA - Friends of Southridge.
